Pregnancy Tests

Pregnancy Tests

Description

Using a sample of your blood or urine, a pregnancy test can determine whether you are pregnant by looking for a certain hormone. Human chorionic gonadotropin is the name of the hormone (hCG). An indication of pregnancy is a high hCG level.

Most pregnancy tests are usable starting on the first day after a missing period. Do the test at least 21 days after your last incident of unprotected intercourse if you are unsure of when your next period will start. You can use some extremely accurate pregnancy tests even before you miss a period. The best time to perform a urine pregnancy test is one or two weeks after you’ve missed your period. Depending on your regular cycle, your period should begin between 21 and 35 days after your last period, barring any known conditions that may impact it. Regular intervals can change. If your typical cycle lasts 28 days and you are on day 29 without your period, your period is considered late.
