Cervical Dysplasia

Cervical Dysplasia

Description

The unnatural development of cells on the cervix’s exterior. A Pap test or cervical biopsy can detect cervical dysplasia, which is typically brought on by specific strains of human papillomavirus (HPV). The human papillomavirus, or HPV, is virtually always the culprit in cervical dysplasia cases. At some time in their lives, the majority of women contract this sexually transmitted virus. Most frequently, the illness that causes cervical dysplasia is cleared up by your immune system.

Cervical dysplasia is a disorder where the surface of your cervix develops abnormal cells. Cervical dysplasia can develop into cervical cancer if left untreated. You can avoid the development of cancer from these aberrant cells by early detection and therapy.

Treatments

The majority of the time, moderate dysplasia resolves on its own and does not progress to malignancy. Your physician might advise a follow-up exam in a year to look for any significant changes. Your doctor might suggest treatment, such as surgery or other procedures to remove the abnormal cells, if you have severe dysplasia (CIN II or III).

keeping track of abnormal cells

Most people with low-grade cervical dysplasia, often known as CIN 1, won't require therapy. The problem usually resolves on its own in certain situations. Only 1% of instances eventually lead to cervical cancer. Your doctor may decide to take a cautious approach and recommend routine Pap smears to check for any changes in abnormal cells.

eliminating or eliminating abnormal cells

The abnormal cells that could develop into cancer can be removed or destroyed by your healthcare provider if your cervical dysplasia is more severe (CIN 1 or CIN 2).
